Receiving a diagnosis for yourself or a loved one with cancer or other chronic illness, can be quite overwhelming and frightening. It can cause feelings of fear, sadness, confusion and difficulty moving forward. These emotions can be present with any change in our lives that feels as though our control is taken from us. But we can gain control back and find happiness in life again. It just takes a new way of seeing what is right in front of us. , I have been practicing in the mental health field since 1993. I have spent the past 29 years working within the hospice, welfare, and headstart settings. I recently became a breast cancer survivor and have shifted my practice to focus on working with others dealing with such a difficult time in their lives. , If you are dealing with a change in your life from a diagnosis of an illness for yourself or a loved one or trying to figure out how to move forward after a change in your life that seems to have paralyzed your future, there is hope.
