I am a former teacher who became more and more interested in social work as I observed the struggles of my students (anxiety, low self esteem, bullying etc.). I see young adults and older adults. My focus is on improving quality of life--helping reduce feelings of isolation, disconnection, constant worry, depression, relational difficulties, school problems, reactions to trauma reminders, insomnia, parenting issues and phobias. I have been trained in a number of Trauma Therapies. EMDR, ART, TF-CBT- to name a few. , My practice is low key and nurturing-with one loving therapy dog (present if clients want) in a cozy setting. I Focus on improving quality of life rather than rehashing painful events, unless those events intrude on the present. I help my clients discover/learn effective ways to manage painful feelings, memories, relationships, anxiety, etc.. , I see my role as a member of the client/clinician team-as a guide/ mentor/ listener. I am an advocate for clients/families with schools, agencies etc. when appropriate.. My approaches to trauma, depression, anxiety, etc. have been informed by personal and professional experience and extensive training.
