I have been in private practice for more than twenty years, working with individuals, couples and families. My training was in family therapy, and I studied Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. While I believe the past informs the present, I work to help clients resolve the current as well as past issues they bring into therapy. My family systems background is a part of the work I do, but I work eclectically to fit the needs of the client. I have significant experience working in crisis intervention, but generally work longer term to achieve the goals of the client. , I often work with clients going through major life transitions: separation from home, relationship, parenting, career, retirement, grief, as well as substance abuse, and depression/anxiety issues. I have extensive experience doing couple counseling. I work with parents and adult children frequently. , I believe strongly that the relationship between therapist and client is an integral part of successful therapy. I encourage clients to use the first appointment to make that evaluation. I also determine if I can be helpful.
