" The reasons people dont seek therapy are complex. For many, therapy exists within the very systems that have harmed them, yet practices (& therapists) often ignore these truths when they ask individuals to “take charge” of and “own responsibility” for the distress and trauma in their lives without that broader understanding, or worse, from a place of privilege or toxic positivity. Clients who decide to work with me should be ready to engage deeply and authentically. My approach is empathetic and requires accountability, radical honesty, and a commitment to the work of healing. I expect folx to embrace growth and to improve their self-awareness in order to shift the way they walk in the world, while rooting the journey in an anti-oppressive framework. This includes community, connection to land, and the arts. , I hold space for the power of telling our stories while understanding that for some people healing needs to start not with talking but deeper, inside the body or spirit.
